ANJALÉ PERRAULT

WELCOME TO MY NEWEST CHAPTER
Raised in the canyons of LA, plants and animals are the cornerstones of my memory. My jewelry designs and paintings are born from a wild childhood which to me felt normal, but I later realized was very much outside the box. We lived in a 900 square foot cabin in a canyon and would drive half an hour out of the winding hills every day to school in the city, then back to our house which was set above a creek with no neighbors in sight. We took in stray dogs, had wild coyote and mountain lion sightings, with snakes that would hide out in our wood pile and under the porch. My whole life was steeped in wilderness, and these are now the images that I desire to create - the symbols that I use to tell stories about humanness, about femininity, about what it is to be alive and vulnerable in the world.
My fine jewelry collection is about releasing judgment. It’s the offering of a question: what would happen if you embraced the pleasure of the present moment? And also, the collection is a celebration. It is full of potential, and optimism, and hope - because these are the cornerstones of the human spirit as I know it.

At my solo exhibition in September 2024 there was a vinyl decal in the middle of the gallery floor that read “Permission Granted”. I got this phrase tattooed on my arm that night to immortalize the permission slip I had given myself to live life to the fullest, to embody my skin, to carve my own path, and to choose the impossible regardless of what others might think. I share my art with you as an offering of love, support, solidarity, celebration of our shared humanness, of all that we have been and all that we can be. I am honored and humbled to be on this journey with you. Thank-you for joining me in this space.
