Birds of paradise reaching toward the sun, basking as they do best. Nonchalant, doing their thing, cool as the LA streets they keep watch over.
This piece is part of the “Made in LA” series, inspired by the canyon we called home and birds of paradise outside of bedroom windows. It’s about the cacti and yucca trees dotting the mountains and the sharp blades of grass my little brother would pluck to make lizard traps in the summertime. We were made in LA, and so were these paintings.
