All the pinks have arrived on this canvas. An eternal sunset. A playground for the ecstatic. A sugar high waiting for the drop. But there’s something dark lurking in the shadows, too. In the drips beneath the flower petals there is contrast - what was Snow White on the surface turns Maleficent at night. And so this painting explores the push and pull of the pretty/ugly in all of us, inch by complex inch.

This piece is part of the “Pretty Ugly” series, an exploration of the artist’s experience of femininity in the 21st century. Anjalé explores a “language of opposites'“, and the tension she feels from the media and societal pressures to chase the moving targets of beauty, success, worthiness, and what it is to be good enough.

Professionally framed in a gallery quality solid maple floater frame.

Canvas size: 36”x36”
