Soul Snips

Clips and cuttings of the soul, right here on canvas, laid down with paint, brushstroke by intuitive brushstroke. Though painted from life, this piece only slightly resembles the original still life, as the snips that were taken are more like a collage cut from a magazine, chosen by heart. This bloom, that leaf, the way the light shines here, the shadow there. This piece is our reminder that we all carry choice as to which stories and beliefs we will move through our days with. Which blooms will you choose to keep, and which weeds will you snip away that no longer serve you? These are my soul snips, my most beautiful bouquet. What snips will you choose for yourself today?

This piece is part of the “Flower Bombs” series. Each work in this series is painted from life using expressive, open brushstrokes. Anjalé’s intention in this series is to capture the energy and flow of the florals through gesture and color, turning off the mind during the painting process and allowing the eye and heart to move the hand directly.
